Pricing is based on printing from print-ready .pdf files. Comic Books are printed full color (4/4) on your choice of either 60#, 70#, 80# white opaque or 70# gloss, 80# gloss or 80# matte text. Covers are printed full color on 10pt C1S (coated one side) and laminated with either gloss or *matte layflat lamination film.
Laminated Covers
Laminated book covers extend the life of your paperback books by covering them with a tough, clear material that protects against marks, spills, and everyday wear and tear. Our laminated bindings are pre-applied, so your books arrive ready to distribute to your customers.
Laminated covers are permanent, tough, flexible, and tear resistant. The crystal-clear laminate, made from the highest-quality nylon and acid free adhesive, will not yellow or deteriorate, keeping the spine and color graphics fully visible.
Standard Comic Book Template
This template applies to all pages for standard-sized comics and standard-sized paperbacks.
Download the template.
Open the template in your image editing software (Clip Studio, Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
Build your comic page to the exact dimensions and specifications in the template.
To double-check the dimensions and specifications of the page you build you can paste the template as a layer on top of your page. If all of your artwork that is intended to bleed off of the edges goes all the way to the edges of the template (the red area) while all of your relevant art, text, panel borders, captions, and word balloons are confined to the live area (light blue) then your page is in spec.

Comic books have changed a lot since the Golden Age, both in the look of the printing as well as the feel of the paper. Modern printing techniques allow for a much wider range of color and saturation, and current comics have taken advantage of this by adding a glossy finish to the pages to allow the colors to pop more. This coating also helps preserve the comic’s quality for a longer period of time. Ultimately the feel of your comic is entirely up to you, but here are some recommendations if you wish to match the comics you see at your local comic shop.
Saddle-stitching is the least expensive and simplest binding method available. In the saddle-stitching process, parent sheets are cut, folded, and stapled together to form a finished booklet. This type of binding is used for single issue comic books, workbooks, shorter catalogs, cookbooks, and booklets of all kinds. A double-page spread (also known as a crossover) is when an image goes across more than one page, like the art book pictured here.
Keystone specializes in being able to hit spread placement within a millimeter or two so that the final product looks like one continuous image. In order to facilitate this, we request that projects with crossover artwork be submitted as spreads instead of single pages. This will help us get your project looking exactly the way it should look.
Once you submit your print-ready files, our prepress team will review them to ensure that they are prepared correctly and in accordance with our print specifications. You will be notified of any concerns we have about your print file preparation, and you will receive clear instructions if edits are required.
